Deadly hits…once again! This time, NFL players sustained more than 1,300 injuries through out the season. All such deadly hits are clearly detected in one infographic. So, watch it and get informed for all 2014 NFL injuries at once.
Season by season, NFL becomes more painful! We noted that number was the bigger one for the gruesome and significant injuries that happened in the 2013 NFL, including key injuries of Denis Pitta,Jeremy Maclin, and Percy Harvin. The toll of injuries is normal part of the NFL; however being such a deadly, the issue is in the news. The toll has been greater in 2014, as more than 1,300 injuries recorded to players on the field throughout the 2013/2014 season. Such a hectic number, isn’t it? Just have a look… to see how NFL plays with the health and life of players?
Mainly, a round with big number of 300 fetches your first attraction. It indicates that 300 cases noted for the Knee injury. Little lower, 206 injuries are noted for ankle injuries, also 155 injuries for upper legs. Here you can say that the leg comprised of about half of all injuries. This is obvious because major weight of the body rests on the legs, and this particular part takes many hits during a game. Other leg-related injuries include 93 for Foot, 64 for Groin, 47 for Hip and 30 for Lower leg. These are not so common, but quite serious.
On the upper side, you noted shoulder and head with big numbers, 116 and 96 respectively. Football is really a rough game; here shoulder injuries usually occur from contact, which come from another player as a result from a tackle, block or collision. Player-to-player contact caused for about 58 percent of shoulder injuries while the impact with the ground causes about 22 percent. Head injuries and brain damage are relatively common in football, about 22% of all injuries. A concussion is a significant fraction of this injury. Unfortunately, several leading players of NFL have been sidelined by a concussion. Upper body parts are contributed for movements, and they mostly injured in lack of flexibility. Hand injuries are recorded at 63, Neck injuries at 41, Core injuries at 51 and Back injuries at 49. Arm and elbow support greatly on falling ground, however their weakness caused injuries at 9 and 25 respectively.
Having such fatal injuries, players are forced to miss at least eight days or sometimes out of the full season that is more painful than suffering an injury. Not on the field only, but there are some deadly injuries that affect players even after they get retirement. As per the survey, 9 in 10 retired players reported suffering from aches and pains everyday, also 44% of them had joint replacement or been advised to perform the one. Even the thing becomes too serious to believe that spate of suicide by retired and active players are also recorded. So these days, you can call football - a deadly collision sport – without any doubt. However the number of injuries keeps on the rising per season, NFL has made little to no effort to increase player’s safety on the field.
